Africa Code Week 2017

From October 19-31, 2017, The Hub hosted Africa Code Week. Hub volunteer Mats’eliso Moruthane led lessons for students from Morija English Medium School, Nkhono ‘Mamohato Training Centre and Thabeng High School at The Hub, with assistance from other Africa Code Week volunteers.

The students got an introduction to computer programming using Scratch, a programming environment and online community where kids create, share and remix animations, stories, interactive art and video games. Find out more about Scratch: https://scratch.mit.edu/.

We are already living in a world dominated by software. The next generation’s world will be even more online and digital. Anyone can learn to code! In a few hours you can pick up the basic skills and in a few weeks you will be able to build useful applications and websites. Learn more at: http://africacodeweek.org/.

Africa Code Week Lesotho Chapter has been a great experience for us at The Hub. We hope to keep our partnership with GEM Institute going, and encourage more young people in Lesotho to learn to code!
