The Hub believes that to deliver SDG4, education systems in Lesotho must be re-imagined, and education financing must become a priority national investment. We need to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The Hub’s programming contributes to these Sustainable Development Goals:

  • Skills & Soup participants attend the programming free of charge, making it accessible for children from vulnerable families.
  • The Hub seeks to address a range of challenges in Lesotho, including youth unemployment, poverty and a lack of access to educational opportunities.
  • Skills & Soup provides 2 meals per child per day, equalling 200 meals served each week.
  • Daily highly nutritious hot meal includes protein, starch, vegetables.
  • Daily highly nutritious take-home ration includes 2 loaves of locally baked fortified brown bread, peanut butter, boiled egg, fruit.
  • “I think all the other life skills that you are offering the young learners is a huge asset to them, possibly more so than just academic learning which they seem to be bombarded with at school and yet what is missing is all the other essential life skills that they need to succeed in life – self-confidence, determination, self-belief etc. You could really tell the difference between the kids who have been coming to The Hub and those who have not. I was very impressed.”  – Leader of a Participatory Design Workshop at The Hub
  • Skills & Soup provides after-school tutoring in IT, maths, English, science, technology, coding, mental well-being, and sign language lessons, as well as daily programming during school holidays.
